In the month of April, the Bishop of Jhansi, Most Rev. Frederick D’Souza invited the daughters of the Sacred Heart, Jhansi to open a new mission station with an English medium school at Parichha.                                                                                                                                                           Parichha is a small township about 25 km away from Jhansi. The Uttar Pradesh state government had decided to set up a small scale Thermal Power Plant in Parichha. Hence the management of the UP state electricity board at Parichha desiring to have an English medium school run by the religious had invited the Catholic diocese of Jhansi to open at Parichha an English medium school from Kinder Garden to high school, the same invitation was then extended to us. It was also in keeping with the request made by Mother Ermelina Mifsud, the Superior General of the congregation during her canonical visit to India to his Lordship to enable us to have a school of our own.                                                                                                                      When the invitation came from the local ordinary, it was forwarded to superior General Mother Ermelina Mifsud  and her council for study and approval. It was readily approved, and permission was given to us to set the mission station at Parichha.                                         

Then, on 2 July 1988, a group of four sisters, Sister Maria Selvam, Sister Maria Theresa, Sister Priscilla Mathias and Sister Felicita Soren were sent to Parichha to establish the school and the mission station. The Thermal Power Plant Authorities had provided a school building for temporary use and also the living quarters for the sisters till the time the sisters were able to have their own school and the convent.       

The land at the Thermal Power Project Parichha was offered to the diocese by the project authorities on lease for 30 years starting from 15 March 1991. This land at Parichha was to contain a school, a convent, a chapel and a presbytery. This plot of land measures 160 m x 128 m having a total area of 5.06 acres.                                        

Since the India region of the daughters of the Sacred Heart had financial problems and could not afford to a school building at Parichha, diocese of Jhansi offered to loan out, initial expenses in setting up the institute in a letter addressed to Rev. Sr. Adalgisa Sammut, then regional superior on 2 April 1988. Accordingly, a loan of five lakhs was taken from the diocese.  Since the plot at Parichha was a marshy land, it required a foundation of concrete piles, which naturally increased the cost of building the school.                                       

In the year 1992 in the month of May on 10th day, the foundation stone for the school building was laid by his Lord ship Must Rev. Frederick D’souza. As the building came up as Gods Providence would have it an unknown donor from Malta offered ₹10 lakhs towards the building of the school, the 10 classrooms on the ground floor were constructed and the school building was inaugurated on 9 March 1994, in the presence of our Superior General Rev. Rita Vella during her canonical visit to India, on the same day, also, the foundation stone for the convent was laid by Rev. Sister Rita Vella.                              In April 1994, the students from the temporary school building given by TPP authorities where shifted to the new building.  At present the school has classes up to 7th standard. The strength of the school to is slowly rising from 101. to start to  at present. The door of the school are opened, not only for the children of the township, but also to the children of the close by areas.(this information is only up to 1994 June.)

Sacred Heart Convent School, Parichcha has always lived up to the expectations of its own mission, to see the children entrusted in its fold with the academic, physical, emotional and mental growth and development.

To carry out its ideals, it has always focussed on the all-round development through a variety of activities and enrichment programmes keeping in mind the upcoming trends of learning also, right from the year it was started.

Our this journey talks about the milestones it has covered through the academic years from 2019 till date.

To begin with, year 2019 saw the spectacular showcasing of its children ‘s talent through the Annual Function and Field Activity which is commonly christened as Sports Day. On one hand, Annual Function was ‘the stage put on fire’ through the Dramatic Acts, Dances and Songs of our young artists from Nursery to Class X whereas the Sports Day was entirely dedicated to the true sportsmanship spirit through field performances, patriotic zeal and the picture postcard drills. Both the Annual Function and the Sports Day revealed to the audience the team spirit, mental and physical strength, collaboration and coordination to name a few. Unfortunately, years 2020 and 2021 were struck by the COVID pandemic but here too the very enthusiasm and energy level of the teachers and the taught were not dampened. Classes were online which meant a meeting with the new way of learning through the online modes. But when things became better by the blessings of Almighty, year 2021 again saw our school in its original role of feeling responsible towards its students. Pandemic guidelines were followed keeping in mind the very health and safety . Govt. initiated Vaccination Drive was carried out for the children. As there is always a silver lining in the cloud, the school again came back to its momentum.  Educational trips to Bhopal, Kanpur and Gwalior were planned for the children from classes III to X to not only give them a piece of relaxation but also to see them emerge out as a’ new self’. Excursions further took them one step closer towards the Indian heritage and history. Children also enriched themselves by visiting the Old Age Home and the Orphanage where they got to interact with not the older generation but also mingled with ‘God’s special children ‘.Not to forget a visit to Jhansi Fort and Museum. These visits made the students both emotionally and spiritually more matured. They learnt the values of compassion, love, sharing and caring.

Our school has also given its due importance to the values of ‘self defence’ and ‘safety’. For self defence and strategic planning, evening classes of’ Taekwondo’ are held which are duly attended and Mock Fire Drills are conducted with the assistance of the CISF to make the students feel more aware about the Fire Hazards and Its Prevention.

Years 2021 to 2023 also saw the new facet of the school when the Charity Fetes were organised not only for the enjoyment of the students but also to teach them ‘Sharing is Caring’. The proceedings of the two fete were dedicated to the Orphanage in the form of a washing machine and a LED TV. The school also works on the pattern of creating awareness amongst the children, so that no harm could ever come to them in the form of any kind of Offences). A committee consisting of 2 female and 2 male teachers with the Principal was also formed. 

Exhibitions are a very effective way of displaying the embedded talent of students, so with this purpose in mind an exhibition was held in Nov.2023 where the students covered various fields ranging from Science, Maths, Languages, Art, Social Science to Needle Work and Craft.

It was a moment of pride for us when our school was granted affiliation for classes XI and XII in the year 2024 after the conduction litmus paper test under the dual inspection by the authorities appointed by the Council.

With a newer role of having classes XI and XII came new responsibilities of matching steps with the new concept of education imparting and for that new technology of Smart Classes was put into practice. Teachers were given thorough insight into Smart Panel handling which meant using Smart Screens for the upgraded version of education. This kind of learning is not only benefitting the learners but also the facilitators as we are ‘Smart India’.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy ‘ is an old adage but very true in all times. With this motive in mind, the school has triggered the concept of a 15 day Summer Camp for its enthusiastic participants during the month of May where learning is fun. Aerobics, Music, Dance, SUPW ,Craft, Painting all are enjoyed by the children according to their taste. A real paradise for children with no boundations.

Each year prayer services our conducted in accordance to the special occasions including National Festivals, Religious Festivals and Some Days of Significance such as Hindi Diwas or topics of societal relevance (water conservation, pollution, Save Earth and Electricity) We also take pride in being regular participants in various Olympiads and competitions.

Our school is steadily and perennial working for the over all well being and development of its children and shall continue to do so. The mission of our school can be summarised in the words of Robert Frost as Woods are lovely, dark and deep But I have promises to keep And miles to go before I sleep And miles to go before I sleep.
